Taking place in the Jakarta International Expo in Central Jakarta, this year's exhibition is featuring an experience zone set up for China and ASEAN countries to exhibit their healthcare products, such as traditional therapies and medicines, food supplements, medical equipment as well as healthcare testing services.

At least 130 Chinese pharmaceutical and medical businesses participated in the event.

Special stalls are also set up for Indonesian companies to feature their local healthcare products, such as bird nest products and "jamu" which is Indonesian traditional herbal drinks that many people in the country still consume in copious quantities, in the hope that they would never have to see doctors.

The products are for Chinese companies to purchase.

"Under the leaders from the two countries, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Indonesia has been expanding, and practical cooperation in all fields has been carried out," he added.

In recent years, China and Indonesia have been promoting the alignment of development strategies of the two countries and made solid progress in practical cooperation.

"We have signed the memoranda of understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative and Global Maritime Axis, and yielded rich fruit in cooperation and exchanges on all fronts. In 2018, our bilateral trade amounted to 77.4 billion U.S. dollars," said Zhou.

According to Indonesia's Investment Coordinating Board, Chinese mainland is Indonesia's largest trading partner for eight consecutive years. Its direct investment to Indonesia reached 2.4 billion dollars, maintaining the position as Indonesia's third largest investor.

"In the first half year of 2019, our direct investment to Indonesia stood at 2.29 billion U.S. dollars, which has already approached last year's total," Zhou said.
